Chicken

                                   

Last night, after the lights were out and I was in bed, my mind began to wander, one of the things my mind does best. Before long it settled on a subject we all think about with great concern, the plight of the chicken. Why are chickens questioned for wanting to cross the road? Why was the chicken selected over all the other animals for a question of birth order, chicken or the egg?

The chicken had a Pox named after it. Then came all the degrading terms such as chicken hearted or just plain chicken. Of course one of the most popular (I apologize) when you really don't think much of a person, chicken shit. There was the game of Chicken. A term for not much money is chicken feed.

However, not all has been bad for the chicken. For years we have had the term chicken fried, a term dear to millions....Now doctors and nutritionists are telling us chicken fried is killing us.

I finally grew tired, fell asleep and dreamed of a better tomorrow....where chickens can cross the road and not have their motives questioned.
