Trophies Of Sadness

Oak View Cemetery, Mullin, Texas
I bring a token of natures beauty so others that pass this way will know someone was here, someone who cared. It takes me a while, but I kneel and rest my hand on the chiseled stone, then brush time's dust from its weathered face. So many things said, though not a word was spoken. Trophies of sadness are all around, yet the warmth I feel is not sadness but a reassurance that all is good. I was only there for a while yet I relived a lifetime. As I walk away, all is well, all as it should be.
