Just One "Day" For Mothers?

Mom, Mama, Mother, Ma ............ one of the most cherished titles ever received by a human being. Everybody was born to a Mom and if very fortunate will have the opportunity to enjoy their company well into the later years of their love filled journey. I loved my Mom and although I felt this emotion from the birth of my memory, the true impact of this love was not realized until she was no longer physically available. Even now, her intellect, her sacrifices, her strength and her all encompassing sense of humor sometimes overwhelm me in a storm of memories. As with any storm the intensity builds until I feel my heart would surely burst..........then the calmness comes and with that, a smile.

It takes something really special to be a good Mom. If we were to list all the qualifications of Motherhood it would certainly appear to be an impossible task. Yet Moms rise to the occasion every day and they do it because of a natural strength and knowledge that has been embedded in their soul. Sadly, much of the time these daily feats of heroic ventures go unnoticed, and are taken for granted as routine chores.

We have a debt to pay. We have a debt to our wives who have unselfishly raised our children. We have an overdue debt to our Moms or to their memory. The sum of this debt is incalculable yet so easily paid. Love, recognition, affection and an occasional helping hand, while seldom asked for, will go a long way in paying this debt.

While weak in comparison to the many achievements of all the good Moms, I want to offer my deepest appreciation for all that you have done and will continue to do. May your disappointments be few, your rewards be many, your wishes be fulfilled and most importantly, may the love you have invested be returned tenfold. You are all unbelievable women with unselfish hearts and an unbreakable spirit known as Motherhood. Thank you one and all......Happy Mother's Day....Every day!
