From Coalmine To Bookends

Metal sculpture by I. W. (Buck Shot) Ferguson

Back in 1979, while working as the Southern Division Safety

Officer on the Santa Fe Railroad, I met Mr. I. W. (Buck Shot)

Ferguson in Pineland, Texas. It turned out that Buck Shot was a

metal sculptural artist. He gave me this set of bookends fashioned

into an old steam engine and coal car, made from two small pieces

of coalmine rail. To this day it remains one of my most cherished

items in my railroad memorabilia collection.

Bookends made from coalmine rail.
