For Goodness's Sake
We, as a family, have been challenged on several fronts over the last months. Both my daughter's families have been faced with much less than smooth sailing and have been blessed with the strength to maintain as a result of support from our family and their many friends. Over the last week in particular, my youngest daughter Shaye and her husband Kenneth have received word his cancer has reached a point which will require some tough treatments. As a family we will be strong and there will be much love and strength shared. I wrote this short poem for us all...
For Goodness's Sake

First comes the news, then a building of tears
Then come the memories, blessed memories of so many years
Doubt, hope and reality spar with what may or may not come
Thus begins the day for this family, this family so awesome.
Then come the memories, blessed memories of so many years
Doubt, hope and reality spar with what may or may not come
Thus begins the day for this family, this family so awesome.
Strength is the pillar on which this family is built
They charge into the future determined and in full atilt
Armed with love, trust, faith, friends and a common cause
The family will fight and they will pray and will never give pause.
They charge into the future determined and in full atilt
Armed with love, trust, faith, friends and a common cause
The family will fight and they will pray and will never give pause.
Though stress and fatigue may visit more in coming days
Love and laughter will still be there as meant to be, always
Whether we will be together or as we lay alone awake
We will have each other, we will pray and do all for goodness's sake.
Love and laughter will still be there as meant to be, always
Whether we will be together or as we lay alone awake
We will have each other, we will pray and do all for goodness's sake.
