Things Are Going To Get Better

At the time so many things seemed to go wrong. The lessons of youth were at times painful and past understanding. There were lost loves, lost friends, things gone without and doing more with less. We had those things of necessity but always seemed to want for more. Our parents would see our tears of disappointment, give us love's hug and say, "Things are going to get better." Now, I am them and yes, things did get better. My first thought was to wish that they were here to see it, but then I realize, they had seen it in all its warmth and glory. Now I say to my children and to my children's children, "Love each other and work toward a better day......Things are going to get better."
