The Sun Has Set
The sun has set and a quiet day becomes quieter. The Christmas lights are lit and the everyday chores are done. I sit in my easy chair, lean back and close my eyes, not from fatigue but because I can see into my yesterdays much better with them closed. I take inventory of all that is good (my loving daughters, the grandkids and of course my sweet Amber). Then I sigh and ponder the December I had my first heart attack and then a few Decembers later when I received a call from my best buddy's son and his words, "Dad is out of surgery and his triple bypass went well....he's doing fine." Then I smile and I am grateful to everything and every soul that made this day end this way.
