Irish Spring Deer
Well, one of the few setbacks
to living in the country is that the deer love to eat Amber's plants. We've done all the things I'm sure most
everybody who lives in the country has tried to have plants and not have the
deer destroy them. Not too long ago a local lady offered a bit of advice that
sounded sincere and technically believable.
She suggested that all you have to do to keep deer from making supper of your
plants was to get a bar of Irish Spring soap, get a cheese grater and simply
grate the soap over the flower bed and deer would be repelled by the scent. Well, Amber tried it on her beautiful yellow
roses due to the fact that every time she gets blooms on the plants the deer
make a meal of them. Late the other night , I noticed the security lights
(motion activated) had come on so I peeked out the window and standing out in
the water sprinkler were several deer being lathered up with Irish Spring soap
by their peers while they were snacking
on Amber's Yellow Roses. Amber's Roses are history, but we now have some of the
freshest smelling deer in Mills County when they roam by the up wind side of
the house.
