The Old Days
Amber and I
took our daughter Shanon and granddaughter Emily out to eat here while back. As
we were finishing up our meal, Emily pointed to an old kerosene lamp flickering
in the middle of the table and said, "Poppy, do you remember these?"
Not sure
what she was insinuating, I said "Yes I do."
She then
asked, "Poppy, at night when you were ready to go to bed, did you just
blow the lamp out?"
I quickly
said, "Emily, we had electricity when I was young!"
"Really!"
she said.
I couldn't
tell if she was surprised or disappointed.
