Pooped Pod Of Pelicans
Each one of these Pelicans weighs thirty plus pounds and has a wing span of more than five feet. |
Late
yesterday afternoon I walked out on our back porch and spotted these pelicans,
about twenty or so, huddled up on the south-east edge of Lake Merritt in about
twenty-eight degree temperature. This
is about the third or fourth pod of pelicans that have stopped over for a
little rest and fishing. It is amazing to watch how they fish in an organized
effort, spreading evenly from each other as they traverse almost our entire
little lake with their heads underwater alternating looking up for directional
adjustments.
This pod of
Pelicans moved on this morning determining that a land that develops twenty-
three degree temperatures is not far enough south yet. It was nice sharing a
few of our fish with them.
